Meet Laura
Originally from South Africa, Laura has built a diverse career that led her to become the COO of Hurricane’s Grill. With a Bachelor of Arts and Business, she began her professional journey in retail before transitioning into personal training after relocating to Australia. Following the birth of their two children, she joined her husband’s business and has since played a pivotal role in Hurricane’s Grill’s growth. Over the last 14 years, Laura’s journey has seen her evolve from the marketing department to now overseeing operations across 5 local and 4 international locations.

Laura founded the Women in Cafes and Restaurants group to shine a light on the incredible women working in cafes and restaurants, who often don’t receive the recognition they deserve. In addition to her leadership role, she is a sought-after international speaker, sharing her expertise on leadership, hospitality, and business growth.
Her commitment extends beyond the workplace, as she actively volunteers with Ronald McDonald House and has raised significant funds for numerous other charities such as Share the Dignity, Black Dog and Vinnies. A recognized leader in the food and beverage industry, Laura has received various local accolades, and was last year won gold in “Women Changing the World Global Award” for Women in Food and Beverage, Laura continues to inspire through her dedication to both the hospitality industry and the causes she is passionate about.
She has co-authored 3 books and in her spare time she you will find her in the gym or walking around Sydney’s beautiful walking trails.
